Performance Evaluation of the Magical Towns Program in the State of Michoacán, México

Abstract

The objective of this article is to determine the level of performance of the Magical Villages Program in the State of Michoacan. The methodology used includes a mixed data analysis, from an application of a semi-structured interview aimed at officials of the Secretariat of Tourism of the State of Michoacan (program implementers), and a survey applied to the citizens of the Magical Villages in this state (program recipients). The processing of the gathered data allowed for the estimation of index numbers, in order to identify the prevailing scenario. The main results show that the overall program compliance level is 68.14, indicating a minimum acceptable range. Also indicating some achievements, but they are still insufficient and limited. It still contains deficiencies in its design and present problems for its implementation to obtain better results.
