Public transparency and data protection in Chile

Abstract

This paper is a reflection on the context that is characterized by the relevance of fundamental rights involved, the economic value of the data processing activity, the legal protection exists with its benefits and limitations, and in particular decisions which the Council for Transparency has adopted over personal data held by public bodies, for they are an attempt to harmonize the right of access to public information and protection of personal data, formulating the strokes to be followed achieve adequate protection of private information of individuals.
